Well, what a year we've had so far!

It appears I've not updated our blog for some time - apologies!  Partly it's because I've been so unwell myself this year, and because the year's just flown by.  I hope you've had as much fun as we've had at New Beginnings.

We've seen slightly less of some of our regular tutors - due to their own art work taking the world by storm, which is wonderful - and slightly more of our new tutor, Dawn Feeney, which is marvellous!

Dawn is a silversmith, but also works with other thin sheets of metal, and we've been using her expertise to create beautiful cards and pictures out of copper; learning the skills of embossing and drawing from design onto copper sheets.  This is then heated with an ordinary lighter which creates some magical colours almost  like a rainbow.  I'll include some recent photos as soon as I upload them from my phone.

We've also seen some new members arrive and we're thrilled to have them :)  If you have a penchant from learning from talented, generous tutors, sharing tea, coffee, biscuits and laughter, with others who understand the need to take your mind off your chronic health or disability, then give our group a whirl.

Our premises are fab, the Oasis Christian Centre offering their large meeting room, with ease of access and excellent disabled facilities, as well as a small but perfectly formed parking area opposite a designated disabled parking bay - very handy.  We have three or four lovely volunteers who enable us to sketch, paint, chalk away to our hearts content, providing refreshments throughout our two hour session.

It's a charming group, with such a warm heart, and a ready welcome from newcomers and returners too.  So pop down one term-time Wednesday afternoon, between 1.30-3.30 and join us.  Materials are provided, as well as resources, and when the tutors aren't with us (we have three tutored sessions per half-term), there are other members who are gifted artists and always happy to share their talents.
