Events

We're hoping to put together a late afternoon/early evening exhibition and celebration of our art work later in the academic year 2015/16.  Fusion Cafe (Chilwell's Creative Corner) offers plenty of space for our art, and has a liquor licence!  We'd love to see you there to enjoy the fruits of our labour and celebrate with us.  We'll keep you posted regarding dates.

Our last big event was a couple of years ago now.  Here's a few highlights:

Art Exhibition 2nd -13th July 2012 @ Beeston Library

This was a great event, with everyone pulling out all the stops to assemble a quality body of work to be displayed.  There were a couple who were unable to exhibit due to holiday commitments or severe ill health, but believe me, their work would have only added to the overwhelming amount of talented pieces that were available for viewing.

Such diversity, style and technique!  Quite like the group itself.  I think the biggest success of the exhibition was that members realised that their work looked quite at home among art work produced by the more accomplished artists in our midst.  That was an eye-opener!  "Wow!  That's MY painting!" exclaimed one group member, on discovering the piece she'd been admiring, which she hadn't seen until John brought it after he'd mounted it (he worked very hard both beforehand, preparing, and on the day, helping to set up - what a star!, was in fact hers!  In fact, the team that gathered to prepare the exhibition (and indeed the team that disassembled) worked very hard to erect a stunning display of paintings and sketches.  My admiration and deepest gratitude to you all.

Here's a selection of some of the comments we received, and then there are some photos of the first day of the exhibit.  Enjoy!  We did :D

Thank you!

Alli Bennett (Secretary)
